Cookie policy
Last updated: August 13, 2026What cookies are
A cookie is a small piece of text a site stores in your browser so it can remember state between requests. Similar tools include localStorage and sessionStorage. This policy covers the NextProxy website, referral redirects, and the console.
We do not sell cookies to ad networks and we do not run third-party ad pixels on the marketing site.
What we actually use
We only keep storage that the product needs, plus third-party chat that appears after you open it. There is no separate analytics-cookie toggle because the marketing site does not load an analytics script by default.
Strictly necessary
Without these, referral attribution, sign-in, or theme preference breaks. They are not used for cross-site advertising.
- nextproxy_referral: set when you hit a referral link (/r/your-code), kept up to 30 days, so sign-up can attach the account to the affiliate. SameSite=Lax.
- nextproxy_acquisition: keeps the last effective acquisition source before sign-up (such as a referral link, UTM tags, an ad click identifier, or an external referring host) for up to 30 days and attaches it at sign-up. A new effective source replaces the previous source; internal and direct navigation do not overwrite it. It is a NextProxy first-party cookie and is not used for cross-site tracking. SameSite=Lax.
- Console session cookies: set after login on the console origin so you stay signed in. They end on expiry or logout.
- nextproxy-console-theme / nextproxy-color-mode: remember light or dark. The marketing site stays dark; this storage is mainly for the console and the chat widget’s color scheme.
Live chat (on demand)
The support button is ours. Only the first time you open it do we load Chatwoot’s script and iframe. Chatwoot may then set its own session cookie to continue the conversation.
If you never open chat, that script and those cookies never appear.
Payments and other sites
Checkout sends you to the payment channel. Those pages follow the processor’s own cookie policy. When you return we only read the query we need to confirm the result. We do not copy the processor’s tracking cookies onto our marketing root domain.
Tool pages
Tools such as IP and browser inspection read timezone, language, screen, and WebRTC candidates in your browser, and call our inspect API for public IP and request headers. That work happens for that visit. Results are not filed into a marketing profile and are not used for ads.
How to control them
Delete cookies in the browser, block third-party cookies, or use a private window. Clearing nextproxy_referral and nextproxy_acquisition prevents later sign-ups from reusing the saved referral attribution. Signing out of the console ends the session.
Blocking all cookies can prevent login or referred registration. That is the cost of necessary storage. We will not force an “accept all” banner for cookies we do not use.
Other policies
If a cookie identifies you, the Privacy Policy also applies. Updates change the date on this page.
